& PYSCOTHERAPY

Person-centred therapy is at the heart of my integrative approach, putting you at the core of our work together, respecting you as an equal and honouring your individuality. 

I can work with children, young people, adults, and couples. I can also work systemically to address broader relational dynamics.

When working with children, and young people, I adjust my methods to accommodate the key differences between adults and this client group, recognising their unique cognitive, emotional, and social developmental stages.

I also modify my approach for clients who may be neurodivergent, striving to create a safe and supportive environment for growth and healing.

Our first session involves assessing your needs and establishing a collaborative approach to therapy. I offer 60-minute sessions that are compassionate yet challenging and aimed at getting to the root of your concerns.


HOW THERAPY CAN HELP

Counselling and psychotherapy can help with a number of different concerns.

  • Therapy can help with a number of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more.

  • Relationship counselling can help improve how you relate to those around you and allow you to break free from old patterns of behaviour. This can cover all relationships, including couples and families.

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychological and physical condition caused by a very frightening or distressing event. With PTSD, you often relive the event through nightmares and flashbacks. You may have problems concentrating and sleeping, and feel isolated and detached.

  • Addiction happens when you become overly dependent on something, often when you’re trying to escape from other problems. You can be addicted to many things including, alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, the internet and shopping.

    Therapy can help you address the causes of your addiction to help you stop your addictive behaviour.

  • Loss is not just about death; you could also lose a relationship, a job or your health. Losing someone or something you love is very painful and you may experience many difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger, grief and guilt. Therapy can help and support you through this difficult period of your life.

  • Stress can be a positive thing and help you achieve your goals. But too much stress can put your health at risk and lead to physical, mental and emotional problems. Therapy could help you to manage your life differently or support you in developing coping strategies.

  • If you have low self-esteem, you may view life in a negative way which makes things seem hopeless or pointless. You might think you are worthless, and that other people are better than you. You may have difficulty saying what you really feel, or you may lack the confidence to be assertive. As a result, you may feel that people take advantage of you and treat you badly. Therapy can help you explore the way you feel and change your view of yourself and others.

  • Adjusting to life changes can be difficult. This can include, but is not limited to, career changes, retirement, and empty nest syndrome. Therapy can help you process these changes in a safe evironment.

  • Together we can explore your personal identity, values, beliefs, and finding meaning in life.

  • This could include parenting challenges, blended families, parenting a child with special needs, and fostering healthy family dynamics.

  • Anger is a normal emotion, but it can become uncontrollable and create problems for you, your family and your personal relationships. Anger can stop you thinking clearly, make you act impulsively, or may make you aggressive and violent towards others. Therapy can help you find the cause of your anger and provide ways to control and change your behaviour.

  • For many people, coming to terms with their sexuality can cause a lot of anxiety and heartache. You may know from an early age that you are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender . Or you may feel confused about your sexuality and take longer to work out what seems right for you. Therapy may help you come to a decision or to deal with a decision that you have already made.

  • Many kinds of emotional pain can lead to thoughts of suicide. You may reach a point at which you feel you can no longer cope. You may not truly wish to die, but you may need help at that moment. Therapy could help by allowing you to share your thoughts and feelings and work on ways to transform negative thoughts into more positive ones.

  • You may benefit from career counselling when you are thinking about possible career movements or areas of study. A counsellor can help you set your personal goals and identify any factors likely to influence your decisions or affect your objectives. They will give you confidential guidance and help to ensure you are setting realistic targets for yourself and making positive career choices.

  • Therapy can help you discover what is important to you, so you can live the kind of life you really want and improve your health and wellbeing.

Fees & Availability

I provide a 30-minute initial telephone consultation, with no obligation, to discuss your needs and address any questions you may have. If we proceed, we arrange an initial session to finalise the working agreement.

  • Individual sessions, lasting 60 minutes, start at £70

  • Couples’ sessions, lasting 90 minutes, start at £150

Typically, we meet weekly, occasionally more frequently if needed. I offer short-term counselling (6-12 sessions) for individuals and couples, with the option for longer-term psychotherapy as necessary. Progression is collaboratively reviewed and assessed.

For maximum flexibility, I offer tailored availability to meet your needs. With mutual arrangement, sessions can be conducted via Zoom, Teams, phone, in person, or through a combination of these methods.
